Another starter is off the shelf, as Arroyo and the Diamondbacks have come to an agreement of two years and 23.5 million. Arroyo turns 37 later this month and is known for his change-up and breaking pitches. Arroyo is 138-127 with 4.19 ERA over his 14 seasons. He has great durability, which is most likely the main reason he got a good contract this late in his career. With not much speed behind the ball, Arroyo gets a lot of ground balls, but in a place like Chase Field you can expect to see some balls fly off the bats and over the wall. Especially going up against Puig, Posey, and Gonzales. He completes the rotation in Arizona, as Cahill, McCarthy, Miley, and Corbin will be out there with Arroyo. That is a good group of names, but no real ace in that rotation. Goldschmidt and the DBack bats will need to support that rotation, as the Dodgers and Giants still have a better group on the mound.

Paul Maholm signed with the Dodgers for one year at 1.5 million. Maholm is 31 with 76-95 record. He has a 4.28 career ERA. I don't really see why the Dodgers need him besides maybe for depth. With Kershaw, Greinke, Ryu, Haren, Beckett, and Billingsley all already in the mix. Maholm is someone they will be using out of the bullpen unless they have a lot of injuries.
Andrew Cashner has come out on top in his arbitration with San Diego. He will make 2.4 million over the 2014 season. Padres offered him 2.275. The fast reliever should make a great impact when the Padres are looking to hold a small lead. I expect him to make much more if he keeps it up.
