New Rivals Already Making Deals

The Oakland A's and Houston Astros made a five player deal getting something both teams were looking for.  The A's had two different guys playing shortstop recently but both of them are now on different teams with the A's not signing Drew.  In need of one they made a deal to pick up Jed Lowrie from Houston, along with pitcher Fernando Rodriguez coming to their organization. In return the Astros picked up young power hitting Chris Carter and two minor league pitchers.  With both of these teams in the AL West now, we will see how heavy of a deal this may turn out to be.  Lowrie will be a good addition to the A's, but was he worth losing a bat that looks to have a bright future.  From Carter small amount of time in MLB, he comes off as an Adam Dunn like hitter.  He blasts a lot of balls over the wall but does strike out a lot.  Both of these teams are really just looking for any improvements they can make with their division enemy Angels now full of offensive power.
Chris Carpenter is looking like he may have to miss the entire 2013 season.  He was out for a good portion of the 2012 season, but nerves are getting him again and he may have thrown his final pitch. Carpenter has been one of the best clutch pitchers in baseball, being a big piece to the Cardinals recent World Series victories.  Ryan Braun may have made the first step to coming clean today, acknowledging that he was n contact with the PED provider which he was busted for in the 2011 season.  Braun got his suspension lifted claiming he was clear of all that, but now may be going a different way with his story.  The Rays made some additions to their roster signing both pitcher Farnsworth and middle infielder Kelley Johnson to one year deals.  these guys should fill in some of the open spots the Rays were currently looking at.  The Diamnondbacks got Para back onto the roster signing him to a one year $2.35 million contract.  Though their outfield is already looking a bit full, he will make a good back up.To end on a funny note, the Giants signed Ramon Ramierez to a minor league deal, Ramon and Andres Torres were both traded to the Mets for Angel Pagan before the 2012 season. Well Torres was signed to the Giants earlier in the off-season and now all three players involved in that transaction can possibly play together.
