Season starts soon, but some guys are still out there

Though opening day is nearing, some key players are still on the market. Especially when it comes to the bullpen, as the big names of Wilson, Valverde, and K-Rod. One big name just came off the market however, starting pitcher Kyle Lohse signed a three year deal for $33 million with the Brewers. This is a player the Brewers were in need of, with Greinke, and Marcum no longer a part of the rotation, the team needed someone to fill in behind Gallardo. Lohse had a good season last year going 16-3 with a 2.86 ERA. The Brewers are hoping he can put up simliar numbers in the hitter friendly Miller Park. Though Houston is no longer in the division, the Brewers have some tough competition with the Cardinals and Reds ready to fight for the Central title. Lohse is 34 and will need to give the team around 15 wins to put in a good share to get them to the playoffs.
A deal in the works is a trade between the Yankees and Angels. The Angels are over staffed in the outfield, while the Yankees can't keep any of their players healthy and need a bat to fill in to start the season with so many on the DL. Vernon Wells is the outfielder looking to be dealt to New York. Things are a bit tricky though, a Wells has a no trade clause and the trade can not happen without his approval. But the deal is expected to go through as Wells claims he is ready to start a new family. Wells  is 34 and on the 6th year of his 7 year contract worth $126 million, he is owed $21 million for each of the remaining years on the contract. Wells has had a rough time the last couple years hitting only .222. After a great career with the Blue Jays where he was an All-star three times, he has not performed as well with the Angels, maybe this switch back over to the east is what he needs to turn his game around. When it comes to injuries, it has been confirmed that Jeter will start the season on the DL though it did look like he was recovering well. That leaves Robinson Cano and Ichiro Suzuki as the only well known names in that Yankees lineup for opening day, unless Wells joins the team. Over on the Blue Jays, Lawrie and his rib issues have set him on the DL to start the season as well, there was hope he could return before the opening but that will not be the case.
