We are a few weeks into the season, and it is far to early to make any calls on who will be slipping into the playoffs, but things look to be going as expected. LeBron may have entered with back issues, but the Cavs lead the East with only one loss with the Hawks, Raptors, and Bulls in line trailing them. The Warriors have been impressive, starting 10-0 for the first time in franchise history coming off their championship season. They look to be in good control with Curry putting up Jordan like numbers with Thompson, Green, and the Warriors amazing bench performing well right there with him.
What has surprised me is how the Pistons are doing, coming into today with a 5-3 record. They have dropped their last two, but I have really liked how Drummond and Jackson have looked for Detroit. They definitely have a challenge in front of them, with the Cavaliers and Bulls already in front of them in the division and the healthier Pacers right there behind them on a three game winning streak. I am not saying they will make the top eight this season, but it would be great to see them step in and shock everyone.
In the west, the Warriors already have a three game lead, but I like what I have been seeing from the Nuggets. I didn't think they would be putting up much of a fight this season, but they currently hold the sixth seat in the west and second behind the Thunder in their division. They have won three in a row, beating tough opponents such as the Rockets. Gallinari has been impressive, leading the team in points per game, while Faried has been representing the team on the defensive side of the ball. The Nuggets have seemed to go up and down in their performances this season with impressive victories over the Blazers and twice against Houston, then had not so swell games on the court in losses to Timberwolves and Jazz. The Nuggets should put up a good fight, but they have not convinced me of making a playoff spot as I bet the Rockets, Grizzlies, and Pelicans may still heat up and take one of those positions. It has been a fun season so far, overall though I would not be to entertained to see a rematch, it appears it will be Warriors and Cavaliers facing each other yet again. Injuries can still happen, along with many other factors here in this early season that can change that. I am just excited to see what is still to come and what kind of records players will set this season.
