Homer Bailey pitched an impressive no hitter for the Reds up against one of the top NL bats, McCutchen and the Pittsburgh Pirates. With Cueto already having an amazing season and in the CY Young talk, Bailey looks to be a great bonus as the Reds dominate in the National League heading into the playoffs. Props for Bailey and the Reds as it looks like they will be facing the Giants in the first round, but there is another team I believe you need to keep your eye on. The Braves clinched a Wildcard seat and are still in waiting to see who their one opponent will be. My current guess is the Cardinals as the Dodgers are to far out with only four games left and the Giants in their way. What an upset that would be if the Cardinals pushed out the Braves at the last moment just like last year. I do not expect that to happen though, the Braves have been outstanding with Heyward, Kimbrel, Medlen, Freeman, and of course Chipper Jones! What a great finish to his career. I would put my money on the Braves going in against the Nationals, that is the series I really want to see. Pitching may favor the Nationals, but if Chipper, Heyward and Freeman can get hot together, it will be an intense show down, especially with Strasburgh watching. Chipper Jones deserved a finish like this and I want to see him at least advance to take on either San Francisco or Cincinnati. Beating the Nationals will not be an easy task though, Harper with Werth, Zimmerman, and Laroche is a lineup that challenges every pitcher no matter his ranking. I am stoked for the postseason, and I hope you are too. There is still a bit to be decided as the AL is still being fought for and one last spot is still up for grabs in the NL.
