Deals Underway

There has been some big signings, trades and deals made recently as some teams have reclaimed there players and others have gone other ways.  Evan Longoria signed a big deal with the Rays extending his contract through 2022 for $100 million, while his former teammate B.J. Upton went a different way signing a deal with the Atlanta Braves for 5 years for $75 million.  With Bourn still on the market, it looks like a good signing for Atlanta to help their offense. The Braves did make a good pick up but also dealt away a once prospect pitcher Tommy Hanson to the Angels in return for Jordan Walden.  Though Hanson has faded off in the recent couple years, it was a much needed pick up for the Angels to ad depth behind Wilson and Weaver.  They have been facing their issues with Greinke possibly going to the Dodgers, Santana sent to the Royals, and no shown interest in Haren.  The Angels already added to their bullpen with the pick up of Madson coming off his surgery.
The Yankees have been busy with the pitchers as well, already grabbing Kuroda and now also signing Pettitte and Rivera.  The Yankees picked up their guys that they did not want to lose as everyone knows money is not to much of an issue for them. Or is it? Russel Martin got outbid by the Pirates and picked him up for 2 year and $17 million.  The Yankees already picked up Eli Whiteside off of waivers from the Giants, so there need for Martin must not have been to heavy as I would not expect to see them get out bid in any situation.  Orioles did not offer tender to Reynolds as he became a free agent today, with the Blue Jays already building up, the Orioles would need to build up their team in order to stay in the picture not let them go.  The Giants also did not offer tender to one of their big players, Brian Wilson is also now a free agent and claims to be going to the Dodgers. A sign of little respect for his teams rivalry. The Giants would need to give Wilson $6.8 million, but with the bullpen being amazing and taking home the World Series without him last season, they do not view him worth that much.
Humber, the perfect game pitcher got claimed by the Astros as the White Sox let him go with little effort to bring him back to the team.  He did have his great game, but he finished with a 5-5 record and was not very impressive over the rest of the season. The Nats got Span to join the outfield and deepen their lineup, it will be interesting with Werth and Harper already there, but when needed Span would make a good lead off hitter in front of their great bats.  The big story is with one of their rivals however, as David Wright apparently has signed for 8 years for a solid $138 million. That is the biggest contract in Mets history, putting Johan Santana behind him by .5 million. That is a very big signing for a team that is apparently broke.  Big 3rd basemen deals made, still leaving Hamilton and Bourn out there, the guys i want to see get signed.  Red Sox, Dodgers and Phillies are the teams I am expecting to see still be picking up some big name players.
