Day one of Spring Training

Deals Deals and....yea more deals!

Say what? I picked a team?
Big news on the day, key free agent outfielder Michael Bourn has apparently agreed to a 4 year deal for $48 million with the Indians. Word was the Mets were making the big offers and still have matched the offer Bourn recently agreed with.  Indians already made a big signing with Swisher and look to add on, but the Mets are battling to provide more support with Wright and Davis. Though things are not completely certain, it looks like the Indians are the team that finally bagged the speedy outfielder. Shortly after finalizing their 4 year deal with Hill, the Diamondbacks got busy again picking up Rod Barajas on a minor league contract.  The Reds have kept things going looking to dominate the NL Central, first by finishing off their deal with Shin-Soo Choo while also grabbing a couple arms to add to the team. Armando Galarraga and Clay Hensley signed minor league deals with the Reds as they look to keep their rotation and bullpen strong year round.
The Cubs picked up Scott Hariston for two years, adding some offense to their lineup that has had a hard time producing over the last few years. Castro, Soriano and the rest of the team will need to find a good chemistry in order to compete in their tough division. Good news for the Marlins believe or not, they actually made an addition to their team instead of sending another player away by signing Chone Figgins.  Figgins has been on the decline since he left the Angels, but here is a good opportunity to try and get back on his feet.  With so many guys now on different teams, the Marlins can't count on Figgins to save them but hopefully he will add a bit of offense to join Stanton and Morrison.  The Cardinals agreed to terms on a one year deal with David Freese, one of their key bats to go along with Holiday and Beltran.  With Berkman gone, not that he was much help last year, the Cardinals need Freese and Craig to step up and help fight against the Reds.  The Dodgers made another addition to the pitching staff signing Mark Lowe to a minor league contract.  We will see how much need they have for him with Beckett, Kershaw, Billingsley, Capuano, and Grienke already in the rotation. The Rockies are keeping Fowler around, giving him and extension of two years. With the Dodgers bringing in every player they want and the Giants having guys in their prime, the Rockies and DBacks have a big fight coming into this season. All I got to say is, about time Bourn picked a team and though Swisher joined the Indians as well, don't put to much hope into that team especially with the Tigers being in that division.
Some guys are getting better from their injuries while others only seem to be worsening.  Jeter is back on his feet running which is a good sign for the Yankees. Lariano just finished his deal with the Pirates, but it appears he may not be able to play until May now with elbow issues getting him down. Last word was Carpenter can't throw at all this year and possibly forever, but he has confidence he can come back and pitch again, possibly not this season but in the future.  What does that mean for the Cardinals payroll? Is he only hurting the team by sticking around though his career may just be over?  Ryan Madson had to miss his entire season with the Reds due to injury, and now that he has joined the Angels he is only running in to more soreness, it appears he is not the guy teams should be signing.  The teams have reported and are getting ready, time will only tell through the preseason which team looks to be in good shape and who is already on pace to fall apart.
