It is just past the half way mark through June, some teams are doing great pulling in the wins and showing signs of having a great record this season. Others are slipping, wether it be due to lack of production or injuries, this will list of the top hottest and slowest teams compared to where they are expected, at the time being.
HOT: 1) Got to start with the Tigers, Cabrera is showing similar numbers to last year as he is leading the league in BA, one of the leaders in HR with 19 jacks, leader in RBI's and among the leaders in WAR. The Fielder, Cabrera combo seems hard to beat. The Tigers are 10 games above .500, and have Peralta in the leaders group with Cabrera in BA. Then there is their pitching, Scherzer leads the AL in wins with 10 and dont forget that Verlander pitches for them too. The Tigers are 5 games ahead of the Royals who have also been doing well recently winning 8 of their last 10. With continued dominance from Scherzer who picked up his 10th win by striking out 10 winning 10-0, the Tigers have got all the offense they already need and should have no problem taking home the AL Central.

2) The Braves have been doing well, though BJ Upton and Dan Uggla have not been contributing much with poor batting performances, Heyward, Freeman, and the newer name Evan Gattis have been big bats to help out the team. Gattis just hit the DL but the Braves pitching have been doing well especially Kimbrel continuing his job, being one of the league leaders in saves. Justin Upton had a hot start but has slowed down recently but they still have won 3 straight and currently lead a division expected to be dominated by the Nationals. The Braves have surprised me with how well they are doing both on the mound and at the plate. It should be a good show down all the way to end for the East.

3) For the last hot team, I have to go with the Padres. You're thinking what about the Cardinals? Believe me they are doing great with Craig, Beltran, Wainwright, Lynn, and Molina all putting up amazing numbers. But I predicted them to be atop of this division battling only with the Reds all season. The team that has surprised me is the Padres with how well they have been doing recently. They have won 7 in a row, including and 13 inning victory last night over San Francisco. I predicted the Padres to be at the bottom of the barrel in the NL West all season, but as of now they are in 3rd only 1 game behind Arizona. Venable and Marquis have been impressive coming through with clutch hits and pitching picking up wins for the team. I do not expect the Padres to keep this up all year, but they are doing great at the time being looking at the Giants and Dodgers both behind them in the standings.
Don't forget about the A's and Red Sox as well, both teams have been putting up great numbers and are looking back saying catch me if you can to their division.
SLOW: 1) The Dodgers must be very disappointed with their teams performance on the season. All that money has gone into picking up big name players, but there has not been any positive results. Kershaw has been amazing this year with a 1.84 ERA, but only him and their new outfielder Puig have done anything to get my attention. The Dodgers have sat at the bottom of the division all season with injuries keeping players such as Kemp, Ramirez, Greinke, and Ellis off the field. The Dodgers need some help in pitching if they wish to turn things around. People were expecting a Dodger kind of season with the team have out together, but I guess it shows that money isn't the answer to everything.

2) The Brewers were not expected to put up much of a fight with the Cardinals, Reds, and Pirates in their division, but I did not expect them to be doing as poorly as they are with a 28-40 record. I figured the Brewers would be putting up a .500 record all season, beating up on the Cubs and Marlins but they currently have similar records to those two teams. The Brewers addition of Lohse has shown that has not helped much, with Lohse showing that he does not have the skill to produce what he did last season. Carlos Gomez and Jean Segura have been good for the Brewers, but injuries to players such as Hart have slowed them down. You may see some players on this team targeted around the trade deadline.

3) Finally I got to go with the Giants. San Francisco has been rather slow with the injuries to Pagan, Vogelsong, Sandoval, and Scutaro. Though that is a few key weapons in the lineup missing, the Giants pitching has just not been the same this season with Cain and Lincecum having a good game then a few bad games. Without their pitching constancy, the Giants don't have much of a chance with their offense. Posey and Pence have been doing well, connecting with power and Scutaro with a good average, but it has not been enough. The Giants started the season hot, with Crawford and everyone hitting really well. But the bats have slowed down and joined the DL, as the former champs are looking at the D-Backs, Rockies and Padres sit on top of them. The Giants may have a lot of leaders on the All-Star voting, but that just shows they have some great fans as their players are not producing as well as the polls show.
Some other big names to look out for this year, Carlos Gonzales, Paul Goldschmidt, Clay Buchholz, Jordan Zimmermann, and Chris Davis. I expect each of these names to be among talk when it comes to the awards at the end of the year.
