Some good shows were put on in week 4, as three games went to overtime and there were some good comebacks especially in that Monday Night Football AFC West matchup. Division leaders are starting to form, while almost everyone has gotten at least one win and already only two teams remain undefeated. Week 5 has matchups I can't wait for. The guy I consider lined up for the MVP Award so far vs Ramsey and that amazing Jags defense, a rematch of last years NFC Championship between the Vikings and Eagles, along with a some good divisional matches and a battle between the two Texas teams on Sunday Night Football. It has been an exciting season so far and we got plenty more to come. Lindsey is our guest in the competition this week, we will see if she has any NFL knowledge.
Week 4 records
Tommy- 8-7
Lauren- 9-6
Marcus- 7-8
Joe- 10-5
Colts vs Patriots
Tommy- This is an interesting one. The Colts will be hungry after letting one slip away in OT after going for it on 4th down, while the Pats may be a little over confident after destroying Miami. Gronk left the game dinged up, but word is it isn't to bad of an injury. With him in the game Patriots take it easily. With him out, Patriots still win but won't cover. NE
Lauren- Foxborough is a hell-of-a place to play as the Dolphins showed us Sunday. I thought they would keep it a lot closer, but home sweet home for Brady is his safe place. Still I think Andre Luck will give him quite a run for his money. Pats take it, but not by much. NE
Marcus- The Pats have not lost to the Colts since 2009. Patriots take this game at home. NE
Joe- And the "idiot play call of the season" goes to...the Indianapolis Colts. Going for it on 4th down in overtime. What doesn't make sense is that if they get the 1st down, they still may because there was hardy any time left and they weren't in field goal range. But not getting the 1st basically ensures the loss. Still, ties suck. Overtime needs to be fixed. The Colts will play better this week, But they'll still lose. Calm down about the Patriots. They are not back yet. The Dolphins are just that bad. NE
Lindsey- I'm obligated to root for the Colts, but they are not going to win. After several seasons of being unhealthy it seems Luck is not going to return to his original form, not to mention the rest of his team is pretty banged up. NE
Titans vs Bills
Tommy- The Titans are doing a great job keeping teams from scoring touchdowns and making the games low scoring. With Allen having issues with accuracy I bet Tennessee keeps it up and wins this one. The Bills wont get shut out again, but I doubt they get to double digits on the scoreboard. TEN
Lauren- Tennesse won an awesome game against Philly. and God only knows which Bills team will show up to play them. Mariota comes away with another win. TEN
Marcus- Marcus Mariota and the surprisingly good Titans defense get a close win over the Bills mafia. TEN
Joe- The Bills are going to win this game. I am sure of it. The Titans may be the worst 3-1 team i NFL history. I don't know how they are doing it. But it will not hold up. Thank you, Bills for making me look smart with that extremely obvious letdown game last week. BUF
Lindsey- The Titans are going for their fourth straight win this season, which means they have to lose at some point, right? I doubt it's gonna be against the Bills. That kind of crap only happens to Minnesotans. TEN
Dolphins vs Bengals
Tommy- The Bengals lost a big piece of their offense in Week 4. Eifert was one of Dalton's favorite targets. With his injury, A.J. Green is going to see a lot of balls thrown in his direction. This game will be decided by Miami's secondary and how they cover him as they have had injury issues of their own. CIN
Lauren- Two very good offenses. Only Miami's defense has been impressive between the two. That being said, Andy Dalton, I feel has more experience and is also at home. Therefore, the Bengals should take this one. CIN
Marcus- Miami had a rough one, but they will show those Bengals who are now missing one of Dalton's top guys to throw to. MIA
Joe- Did I just mention the worst 3-1 teams in NFL history? This season's Dolphins actually take the cake. As for the Bengals, when is Andy Dalton going to have one of those Andy Dalton weeks? The Bengals are 3-1 and have had the toughest schedule to start the season. I won't say yet that this team is for real. But maybe they are. Not that anyone will notice. CIN
Lindsey- The Dolphins are not good to say the least. However, historically they do have the better record against the Bengals. Despite that...CIN
Ravens vs Browns
Tommy- Mayfield cost his team the game Sunday with the multiple turnovers. Now he gets to face a defense that will provide real pressure compared to the Mackless Raiders. I think Baker has a bright future with Cleveland and this game will have a lot of sacks in it, but Flacco will avoid the kind of mistake the rookie will make to get the win. BAL
Lauren- Honestly...Baltimore's team is looking far better than I ever imagined they would this year. Obviously so is Cleveland's team, but for more obvious reasons. Cleveland lost a heck of a game on Sunday, but the Raiders aren't the Ravens. BAL
Marcus- The Brownies almost got the win and beat the spread last week, but a couple calls didn't go their way. I see a close game between NFC North rivals but the Ravens eek out a close win. BAL
Joe- Baker Mayfield lost to the winless Raiders. I just wanted to say it out loud. It's a beautiful thing. And I was way off with my statement about the Ravens being a bad road team and on their way to 6 road loses. But I am not giving up that easy. That means Cleveland needs to win this game. CLE
Lindsey- This season, the Browns may actually be a different team than what we have seen in previous seasons. Baker Mayfield fuels optimism. However, Mayfield is still a rookie, and the Ravens are hard to be against with their defense. BAL
Packers vs Lions
Tommy- Lions let one slip away against Dallas and will now face a QB that will really take advantage of defensive mistakes. Green Bay is coming off a strong game and looks to have a great secondary defense with their draft additions. As long as roughing the passer isn't called on Mathews a few times, Green Bay wins this thanks to turnovers and a couple clutch long field goals. GB
Lauren- This match-up never disappoints. Both of these team have seen really good weeks and really bad weeks. The Lions have finally found their run game and the Packers receivers are showing up every game. Rodgers and the Pack win on the road. GB
Marcus- I still don'y have too much faith in the Lions, but I like Rodgers and my boy Blake Martinez to get the win for the Pack. GB
Joe- It's not enough for Aaron Rodgers that he has a falling out with his entire family. Now he wants his coach gone too. Maybe he should go live alone on an island like Tom Hanks in Cast Away. This matchup is typically a low scoring, weirdly close game when played in Detroit. I really want to pick up the Lions. But I think this season is all about punishing the Vikings. GB
Lindsey- The Packers have had a strong start to season despite Rodgers' knee injury. While Detroit's defense has struggled. At the end of the day, you can never count out Rodgers. GB
Jaguars vs Chiefs
Tommy- This will be a good one. That guy Mahomes against that Jags pass defense. Mahomes has been escaping pressure and throwing perfect passes in clutch situations so far this year. I mean even switching to the left hand for a first down against Denver. I got to trust he will continue to run and find a way to come up with the big plays. Fournette having injury problems is my deal breaker. It won't be easy, but the Chiefs win this late. KC
Lauren- OMG! I cannot wait for this game. It's going to be so good! Electric offense versus shutdown defense. This game is going to come down whether or not Mahomes can keep the ball form the Jacksonville secondary and if the Jaguars pass rushers can bring down the elusive quarterback. Chiefs at home will be hard to beat. KC
Marcus- The former LSU stud is hurt and that will hurt the Jags against the Chiefs this week. Look for Mahomes and the Chiefs to get the win this week. KC
Joe- So, if any tam is going to make the Chiefs look mortal, it's the Jaguars right? I think so. They have been an enormous big game team over the last year. And as great as Mahomes and the Chiefs are, they are going to see this week that sometimes winning a game is about how well you prevent points from happening instead of simply scoring them. JAX
Lindsey- This just might be the game of the week to watch. Mahomes is exploding in the league, while the Jaguars have shown that their appearance in the playoffs last season was no fluke. KC
Broncos vs Jets
Tommy- I believe Von Miller is enough to make Darnold continue to make those mistakes. A couple picks and/or fumbles will give the Broncos the W. DEN
Lauren- The Broncos put up a really good fight against Mahomes and the Chiefs. The Jets got creamed by the Jaguars. I would think that Denver takes this pretty easy. DEN
Marcus- The Jags put up bug numbers against the Jets last week and the Broncos played well against KC, I like the Broncos in this matchup. DEN
Joe- The Jets are favored to win? The Jets!?!? Seriously? Denver doesn't seem to be that bad. Outplayed the Chiefs for most of the game. The Jets are bad. Why are they begging us to pick the Broncos? So they can take our money. I'm not falling for it this time. NYJ
Lindsey- Both these teams suck, but Denver sucks maybe a little bit less than the Jets. The Broncos haven't won a game on the road this year, but the Jets home record over the last several games is abysmal. DEN
Falcons vs Steelers
Tommy- This game will be a shootout. Falcons are missing big pieces of their secondary while the Steelers can't seem to stop any passing game. Ryan and Big Ben are going to take turns finding Jones and Brown for big plays and a lot of touchdowns. You want to take the over in this one, as the Falcons slip away with the win. ATL
Lauren- Both of these team lean on their offenses more than anything. Atlanta's defense is injured and Pitt's defense is bad. Pitt has the better receivers, but Atlanta has the better running back. Look for a shootout that comes down to who has the ball last. Give Pittsburg at home. PIT
Marcus- The Falcons lost a close one last week, and I like the Steelers to put up some numbers against a struggling Falcons team. PIT
Joe- The Falcons are 3 clutch plays at the end of the game away from being 4-0. Instead, they are 1-3 and their season is over. Speaking of a season being over, your 2018 Pittsburgh Steelers. Here's a concerning stat that you can blame on coaching: the Steelers have 0 points in the second half of games the past two weeks. And they scored 7 points in the first half of game vs the Browns. Why can't this team play and entire 60 minutes? I can't predict a tie, even though I think it's very possible in this one. PIT
Lindsey- Steelers have looked pretty decent int he first half the last few games and then flopped in their finish. The Falcons so far have been a disappointment overall this season. Rooting for Ryan, but expecting Roethlisberger & Co. to actually pull through this game. PIT
Giants vs Panthers
Tommy- The Panthers are coming off their bye and boy do those Giants look like they need one. The Panthers will apply more pressure on the QB leading to their win. CAR
Lauren- This game is probably going to be the saddest of the week. New York looked awful last week and Carolina was on their bye. Both offenses lack explosiveness as do both defenses. Lot of three-and-outs here. Carolina at home. CAR
Marcus- After a bye week, I like my guy McCaffrey to run for big yards against a struggling NY Giants team. CAR
Joe- I don't understand the Giants. I think they are going to show up one week and crush someone out of the blue. But I don't think it will be this week. Plus, I think the Panthers are going to win the division. CAR
Lindsey- The Giants literally have nothing going for them. Apparently NYG is 1-2 but I can't even remember them winning this season. On the other hand, the Panthers are 2-1 coming off a bye week, despite Cam Newton's stupid hats. CAR
Raiders vs Chargers
Tommy- Both of these teams showed us they can score. Now which team is going to make a difference on the defensive side of the ball. Will Lynch plow through for the extra yards? While Gordon sneaks around for the easy first down pass when Oakland needs a stop? Which ever team can show defense wins. Saying that I have to take the Chargers. LAC
Lauren- The Raiders won a tough game against the team that did not have any wins last year. The Chargers won a tough game against a team on their second-string QB. The difference, in my opinion, is that San Francisco has a better defense than Cleveland. Chargers win. LAC
Marcus- The lightning bolts will be the "home" team as Oakland comes to town, expect the soccer stadium to be filled with disappointed Raiders fans when the Chargers get a close victory over the Silver & Black. LAC
Joe- Does anyone else think that maybe the Raiders aren't that bad? Two road loses that they blew in the fourth quarter, and overtime win against the Browns and the best played half anyone has had thus far against the Rams. What happens when the division rivals, both known for being unable to close a game, face off? I'm predicting overtime. And another Gruden loss. LAC
Lindsey- Phillip Rivers sucks but so do the Raiders. I'm rooting against both these teams, but if I had to pick one, I guess I'd go with the Raiders. Just for the hell of it. Neither of these teams have a shot this year with KC in the way. OAK
Vikings vs Eagles
Tommy- This should be a close matchup. Cousins showed us he can't beat the ones he easily should, but puts up a good fight against the teams expected to beat him. I want to see which defense is gonna step it up this time. Both teams are coming off tough loses, but being the home team I have to take Philly. They will keep the Vikings run game quiet and out score Diggs and the pass game. PHI
Lauren- The Philly defense doesn't look as good as it was last year. Nor does the Vikings defense. This is most likely going to be a high-scoring affair. I think Minnesota has the better receivers to pull out the win. MIN
Marcus- The champs got beat last week but I like the Eagles to fly this week and get the victory over the Vikes. PHI
Joe- This season is already bad enough for the Vikings fans. Now we have to be reminded of last season's NFC Championship game rematch. We never win in Pennsylvania. I actually looked up the last time because I was curious when it was and now I wish I hadn't. It was 2010. We won a meaningless end of season game against the Eagles and injured MVP candidate Michael Vick. That injury caused the Eagles playoff loss in the first round to Green Bay, who ended up winning the Super Bowl. KILL ME. Two of out four losses last year were in Pennsylvania. We have no chance. PHI
Lindsey- Despite high expectations, both teams have struggled in the first few weeks of the season. That being said, Minnesota teams tend to break hearts continuously (see Joe?). I say Eagles at home have a bounce back week. PHI
Cardinals vs 49ers
Tommy- Only one team left without a W. Though the 9ers looked good against the Chargers, I think Rosen will get his first win and the Cardinals first as well. It will be low scoring, but Rosen will get a couple good passes in when they are needed to make the difference. ARI
Lauren- Not even going through the trouble. I'm taking the Niners and hoping for the best. SF
Marcus- The former Bruin breathed some like into the Cardinals last week, I like the Cards to get a victory this weekend over the hapless Niners. ARI
Joe- What happened last week or any week to make us believe that the Cardinals can go on the road and stay within one score of anyone? The answer is nothing. And the 49ers were solid on the road with Beathard. I really don't understand the 4 point spread. It's not scaring me into betting the Cardinals. Going with the one that looks like easy money. SF
Lindsey- Both these teams are already done. The 49ers season ended when Garropolo tore his ACL and the Cards are a pure wreck. The 2018 Cardinals are not the Browns form last year so they have to win one right? ARI
Rams vs Seahawks
Tommy- Won't even be close. With Thomas out Goff will have fun finding his great targets and take it over his division rival. LAR
Lauren- The Twelfth Man is no match for Goff, Kupp, and Gurley. Especially with Earl Thomas out for Seattle. The Rams should win this with ease. LAR
Marcus- Have you been watching the Rams this year? They look great and are the new Super Bowl favorites. Rams get the win this weekend. LAR
Joe- On a scale of 1-10, how fun was it it to watch Goff have a perfect passer rating against my team? Oh and I watched it in person with an idiot Rams fan. Let's call it a 0. Seattle is usually a tough place to play. But I can't see any way they can win this game. The Rams are ridiculous. Both team starting to have too many defensive injuries. LAR
Lindsey- Seahawks have struggled and don't have much going for them, complete opposite on the other side. LAR
Cowboys vs Texans
Tommy- Both teams look like they may be pulling it together. Zeke leads the league in rush yards and the Texans defensive line finally put on some good pressure. Health will end up making the difference. Having all their defensive weapons, Houston will apply the pressure while Watson escapes what Dallas throws at him. HOU
Lauren- The Texans finally got their first win. Dallas beat a decent-looking Lions team. Houston has the better defense by a long shot and should shut-down Zeke. Texans for the win. HOU
Marcus- I like the Texans defense o stop the Cowboys this week and win the battle of Texas. HOU
Joe- I'm back on board with the Cowboys sucking on the road. The Texans has no business winning last week. And now they'll probably ride the waves of that undeserved win to a three game winning streak. Maybe even a five game one. You heard it here first. HOU
Lindsey- I hate both these teams, but Houston can't seem to put anything together without help from mistakes on the other side. DAL
Redskins vs Saints
Tommy- MNF, what a time for Brees to be lined up to possibly break the pass yard record. I think he will come into this one pumped and ready to make a difference. This game will be decided by turnovers. Alex Smith takes care of the ball, so as long as the Saints don't give it away to much, they should take this one. NO
Lauren- Drew Brees is only 201 yards away from Peyton Manning's record of total passing yards by a QB. So that means Alvin Kamara may have a slow day. But Josh Norman will be looking to spoil Bree's party. Is till think the Saints out-sling Alex Smith and the Skins. NO
Marcus- The Saints will march on to a hard fought victory come Monday night over a surprising Skins team. NO
Joe- Why are their byes after 3 weeks? Does a team with a bye that early in the season have any chance of being a title contender now that they have to play 13 straight weeks? Did everyone forget week 1 when the crappy Saints gave up 48 points to Fitz-trash at home? It makes me so mad that just a few weeks later people think they are good again. Brees is supposed to break some kind of record on Monday night. No chance he will do that in a loss. ESPN won't allow it. NO
Lindsey- The Saints have won 8 of their last 9 home games. On the other hand, Washington has lost 6 of their last 8 road games. The Saints are the clear favorite but Drew Brees can burn. WSH
Season Record
Tommy- 31-30
Lauren- 31-30
Marcus- 34-27
Joe- 21-26
