Week 7 Predictions

Week 6 sure was entertaining, especially with that finish we got on Monday Night Football as Aaron Rodgers did it again. The division matches got intense, especially over there in Cincy with more physical tension between the Bengals and Steelers. The big game had to be the shootout between Brady and Mahomes going all the way down to the last possession. Props to both those teams, as I expect they meet again later on. More teams are starting to get their bye weeks, as the Packers, Raiders, Steelers, and Seahawks each have the week off. But we got plenty of good games this week with a lot of interleague games and some division fights. The guys are coming off good weeks, lets see who can keep it up in Week 7.
Last week's record
Tommy 8-7
Lauren 12-3
Marcus 11-4
Joe 11-4
Broncos (2-4) vs Cardinals (1-5)
Tommy - Rosen has shown signs of improvement, but as we have seen the last two weeks with Cronwell and Gurley, it is the run game that is Denver's weakness. They just can't seem to stop guys who run to the outside. The Cardinals will look exploit that. That should keep it a close game, but Denver has dropped four straight and won't let that continue against the offenseless Cardinals. DEN 17-13
Lauren - This game for Thursday prime time is a bummer. Both of these team have looked awful this season. The Broncos have shown some glimmers of hope, but the Cardinals don't seem to have it together. I think Case Keenum get a much needed win. DEN 27-17
Marcus - The former Bruin hasn't put up gaudy numbers like some other rookie QB's, but he has performed well enough and I like him to get the win Thursday against the Broncos. ARI 21-17
Joe - The broncos are losers of four straight and have not won a single road game yet. And they're favored to beat the Cardinals because..? I guess it is because they kept it close agains the Rams at home. Not impressed. And I said it a week ago and stand by it. The Cardinals are not that bad. They will get better each week as their rookie progresses. ARI 23-20
Titans (3-3) vs Chargers (4-2)
Tommy - Both of these teams have impressed me with their defensive performances so far on the season. The key difference between the two is, one team has weapons on offense while the other doesn't. Both have good QBs, but Rivers has his weapons in Gordon, Allen, & others. The Titans have a young group which is not clutch as we saw against the Ravens, and is why I am taking the Chargers. Hopefully these teams give London a better show than they saw last week. LAC 20-12
Lauren - The Titans got shutout last week by a team that lost to the Browns. The Chargers look strong this season, especially their running game with Melvin Gordon. LA should take this easily. LAC 28-14
Marcus - Another game across the pond in London. The Chargers have looked good the last couple weeks and I like them in this matchup against the Titans. LAC 30-14
Joe - Been saying the Titans suck from day 1. And I am not backpedaling in any way. I'm also actually starting to really believe in the Chargers. They are not finding new and creative ways to lose gamers and make you shake your head. So un Charger like. Second best team in the AFC. Yep, better than the Patriots. LAC 30-13
Patriots (4-2) vs Bears (3-2)
Tommy - Well I got to say those Patriots look back. It will be tough for them taking on that defense over at Solider Field, but I think Brady and the Patriots have put it back together with those receivers there ready and waiting now. Brady will be more clutch and will not make the mistakes Trubisky will. NE 24-20
Lauren - If this game were in Foxborough I would be picking the Pats without a second thought. But Brady won't be home. He'll be in enemy territory against Khalil Mack and a physical defense. I think this one ends up being really close. Bears take it at home. CHI 27-24
Marcus - What a roller coaster of a game last was for da Bears. After such a big blow last week they have to play the Pats. The Pats keep on rolling to victory over da Bears. NE 31-20
Joe - The Patriots really are not that good. But like usual, they are on the fortunate side of the schedule. And it looks to be the same this week since Mack may be out. The one real weakness Tom Brady has is performing against a great pass rush. If Mack is out, the Bears lose by double digits. And I really wanted to predict a Bears bounce back at home after losing to King Osweiler. Don't bet on it. NE 26-13
Bills (2-4) vs Colts (1-5)
Tommy - I feel like it is time for the Colts to win another one. Allen has a UCL injury which is said not to be serious, but the Bills have claimed they are not going to be rushing him back into play. The Bills almost got a win last week, it was just another pick off thanks to Peterman that cost them the game. Though Indy is beat to shreds as well, I am taking them at home. IND 16-14
Lauren - The Bills put up a pretty good fight against the Texans last week. Which is much more than I can say for what the Colts did against the Jets. I think Indy is far to beat up to try to beat Buffalo. BUF 21-17
Marcus - Andrew Luck got out-dueled last week by the rookie from USC, but he won't be outplayed this week against a struggling Bills team. IND 23-13
Joe - If Nate Peterman is so bad that Derek Anderson is starting over him this then why is he still on the team? Or in the league at all? He might be the worst quarterback of all time. As for Luck, he is fine but his team is still trash. It makes his first three years in the league look like the biggest fluke. What a bad game. IND 24-12
Lions (2-3) vs Dolphins (4-2)
Tommy - Miami showed off their speed against Chicago, dodging and weaving through to get to the goal line. Detroit is rested, plus I don't think ic an trust Osweiler to come through again even at home. DET 28-24
Lauren - Man Miami's defense just keeps surprising. I thought for sure they were going to get creamed by the Bears. Especially when I woke Sunday morning to find that Brock Osweiler was starting for them. Detroit is rested after their bye and I think that will help out. DET 26-20
Marcus - What a comeback last week! I felt so bad for Kenyan Drake! That poor guy, but luckily his team was able to get the win. A home game for the Fins and another win for Miami. MIA 24-21
Joe - The Lions have lost to the Jets and 49ers but beat the Patriots and Packers. Make sense of that. And don't get me wrong, I'm very proud of my upset pick of the Dolphins over the Bears last week. But if I pick them again, then I am predicting Osweiler to win back to back starts. Against a team coming off a bye, no. DET 30-17
Vikings (3-2-1) vs Jets (3-3)
Tommy - Well both of these teams can score, Cousins has way to many weapons while Darnold has shocked many with his game play. I got to go Vikings though because their defense has more strength and the Jets just seem to have a harder time finishing things off when they are in the red zone, just to many kicks for FGs instead of TDs. MIN 27-24
Lauren - Both of these offenses can be explosive. The Minnesota defense came up big against Arizona last week and I think they will keep up the brick wall against New York. This could turn out to be fairly high-scoring. Minnesota for the win. MIN 31-26
Marcus - I read somewhere that even though the Vikings are supposed to be great this year and contend to represent the NFC in the Super Bowl. The Vikes play down to their competition and that being said I like the J E T S, Jets to get the win. NYJ 32-27
Joe - Two weeks ago the season was over for my Vikings. Now they are trying to reel me back in. Perfect timing for a total letdown against a garbage team. What is with the Jets? Their loss to the Browns now looks really bad. And how do they get three home games in a row? Seems unusual. They were favored against DEN and IND but not MIN. I guess that means my boys have to win this one. MIN 36-31
Panthers (3-2) vs Eagles (3-3)
Tommy - This should be a good one, as the Eagles looked great last week, but against an opponent they have both beaten and Carolina had a strong second half that may have been enough if they didn't turn it over three times. I expect a close game where pressure and sacks make the difference. PHI 23-21
Lauren - I think Philly has their confidence back after destroying the Giants. The Eagles defense just needs to figure out how to keep McCaffrey behind the line of scrimmage. Hopefully that is easy enough for them. PHI 21-14
Marcus - Here are some numbers, Carolina is 7-3 ATS in their last 10 games as underdogs. Philly is 8-1 SU & ATS in their last nine games at home vs teams with a winning record. Going with the numbers, I'll take the Eagles. PHI 28-21
Joe -The Panthers are tough to figure out. But I saw their loss to the Redskins coming from a mile away. And i believe in the opposite this week. As for the Eagles, bad news Bird Fans, your team hasn't played anyone good yet. Falcons, Bucs, Colts, Titans, Vikings, and Giants. 3-3 is embarrassing against that trash. Eagles may get lucky but... CAR 29-28
Browns (2-3-1) vs Buccaneers (2-3)
Tommy - Winston showed us he is back and ready to compete putting up the points against the depleted Falcons secondary. Now he gets to take on another Heisman winner and a tough defense. The Browns are coming off a tough defeat but will see more out of them this week. It will be a duel that goes to a final possession and who can get it field goal range or force the turnover. TB 23-21
Lauren - Baker Mayfield played against a really good Chargers defense last week. This week he should feel better because I think he will get more time to throw against the Bucs. But the Bucs stand a chance too because Cleveland's defense is nothing after playing Matt Ryan and the Falcons. I think Mayfield get a third win for the Browns. CLE 24-20
Marcus - The Bucs have too much of a roller coaster this season, well the Browns as well, but I like Bakers Mayfield to lead the Brownies to a win. CLE 27-24
Joe - 22/46 with two interceptions in a blowout loss. Oh yea, at home. Yet I have not heard one word about Mayfield possibly being benched. Imagine if Taylor had that stat line with Mayfield on the bench. Such hypocrisy. And TB has fallen to 2-3. Everyone lost their mind over FitzMagic after two wins!! Idiots. Jameis gonna ball this week. TB 35-17
Texans (3-3) vs Jaguars (3-3)
Tommy - This is the defensive matchup of the week. Neither offense has been impressive, as Watson is dinged up from running so much and Bortles can't stop turning it over. The run game is what will win this and Houston will have the strength there with Watson at QB and Fournette still out for the Jags. Here is hoping Watson is healthy for the game. HOU 17-12
Lauren - The AFC South looks to be the worst division in the league this year. We can never know which team will show up for either of the four. This particular game should be a low scoring, defensive battle. I think Houston has the better offense and comes out on top. HOU 12-8
Marcus - After a couple really bad losses, I think the Jags put it together and get the victory against the Texans. JAX 31-17
Joe - A couple weeks ago I picked the Texans to go on a 5 game win streak. How can I pick against that now? And has anyone been worse than the Jags the last two weeks? Didn't show up at all. By far currently the most overrated team. HOU 23-16
Saints (4-1) vs Ravens (4-2)
Tommy - The number 1 defense against the number 3 offense. We will see if Baltimore can keep Brees in check like they did to the Titans last week. Tennessee did not stand a chance against their blitz and we will see if Kamara and the Saints offensive line can handle it. NO 23-21
Lauren - Baltimore's defense looks pretty good, but "pretty good" will not be enough to beat Drew Brees and his offensive weapons. Saints take it. NO 28-17
Marcus - Even though the Ravens calling card is defense, I still think Drew Bress has a ton of momentum behind him. I like Nola to get the victory this weekend. NO 34-21
Joe - It was nice to have one week off from hearing about the dirty, cheating, scumbag Saints. As for the Ravens, they shutout the Titans but I do not know why they are favored against a strong QB and offense. That spread is reversed. NO 27-23
Cowboys (3-3) vs Redskins (3-2)
Tommy - A battle for lead of the NFC East as long time rivals meet up both coming off a win. Did the Cowboys get their confidence back destroying what was suppose to be the best pass defense? Or will going back on the road bring them down again since them still have zero wins outside of Dallas. The Redskins showed strength on both sides of the ball and will continue their magic at home. WSH 27-23
Lauren - Josh Norman had a big game against the Panthers last week, as did Zeke and Dak against what I thought was a tough Jacksonville defense. But the Cowboys face a much better offense this week and I think Alex Smith helps get them a win at home. WSH 24-21
Marcus - Going with the Boys this week against the Skins, the Cowboys are 4-0 SU in their last four games against the Redskins. DAL 27-18
Joe - I heard a weird stat about how the Redskins have not won back to back games in the last 20 something. And the Cowboys have not won on the road yet. Something will have to give. Unless there is another tie. I feel like it would not be smart to predict that. DAL 20-17
Rams (6-0) vs 49ers (1-5)
Tommy - The 49ers let one go late while visiting the Packers. This time though they won't have to worry about that, because they are not going to come close. The Rams have a much better defense and protection for Goff. Gurley will make big runs and the Rams will take this one. LAR 34-16
Lauren - Boy the 49ers looked so much better against the Packers than I thought they would. But the Rams offensive line is much more protective than the Green Bay line. I think the Rams should have no problem in Santa Clara. LAR 31-27
Marcus - Even though the Niners played pretty well against the Packers, their defense still isn't good enough to stop the Rams. I mean not even close. LAR 49-3
Joe - Idiot Rams fan showed me the schedule after this game against the 9ers and told me his team would lose 3 of the next 4. Right. the 9ers had no business losing to the Packers. Such a Packers way to win, getting the ball back with just enough time for Rodgers. Smart. LAR 28-20
Bengals (4-2) vs Chiefs (5-1)
Tommy - The Chiefs are back home, meaning Mahomes is going to shine again. He will throw for the big yards, setting more records and running away with this one. The Bengals will put a fight, but simply will not be able to keep up even with Green and Mixon there for Dalton. KC 37-27
Lauren - Mahomes was handed his first loss in Foxborough last week. But. honestly I think he is glad that he lost to the GOAT. It should be comforting that he and the Chiefs at least made it a good game. Cincy lost a heartbreaker against the Steelers and they will stay in a slump. KC 33-28
Marcus - Mahomes and the Chiefs rebound after a close last week to New England. I like the Chiefs to put up some big numbers against the Bengals. KC 41-34
Joe - Can we boycott the Bengals winning the division or making the playoffs when it is basically a 100% guarantee that they will lose right away and likely do something dirty to their opponent. It is just a waste of a spot if they get in. And I am still just impressed wit the Chiefs. Though the NFL will not let Mahomes beat Brady in primetime. The Bengals will compete but won't pick up the upset. KC 30-28
Giants (1-5) vs Falcons (2-4)
Tommy - This game should not be much of a battle, the only thing that brings up question is the health of Freeman for the Falcons. But they are a pass dominant team anyway. The Giants have been sad, so no doubt here. ATL 37-20
Lauren - I don't know whose idea it was to give the Giants a Monday Night game, but this will be a blowout. Matty Ice and his receivers will pummel the Giants defense. Though...Barkley may have a good night....nah, Falcons win. ATL 28-24
Marcus - To much disfunction with the NY Giants, unless Manning throws nothing but short passes all game. But I like the Dirty Birds to get the win int his one. ATL 33-23
Joe - Remember the beginning of last week when I said the Giants would upset the Eagles?? I got a bit of grief and possibly some insults from that one. But still had a good week with 11 wins. The Giants really suck though. And the Falcons suck just a bit less. Sure lets got with that. ATL 37-32
Season Standings:
Marcus 54-37
Lauren 53-38
Tommy 48-43
Joe 43-34
