The Saints showed us Sunday night that they are the real deal getting their revenge on the Vikings, blowing them out at home lead by Kamara, Brees, and their defense. While the Rams held off Aaron Rodgers and the Packers offense staying undefeated with big plays from Suh, Goff, and Gurley. Now we get to see the Saints host the Rams this Sunday in a game I can't wait for. From what I have seen so far this season, I would expect this game to repeat in the NFC Championship. We also get a treat in Week 9 with the division battle of the Steelers visiting the Ravens in an important duel for the AFC North, while the talk of G.O.A.T. will go crazy on social media as Rodgers and the Packers visit Brady and the Patriots. Week 9 will be a fun one, the competition is getting intense so lets see who has a good week this time.
Last week record
Tommy 12-2
Lauren 11-3
Marcus 13-1
Joe 11-3
Raiders (1-6) vs 49ers (1-7)
Tommy - Hopefully there is some excitement in this game, as we already know these two teams are not going anywhere this season. The 49ers have let a couple close ones slip away, while the Raiders can't seem to stop any offense from putting up big numbers. In reality it is a toss up, but I will trust Beathard not to let this one go on a bad snap and get the win. SF 23-21
Lauren - Aaaah the old rivalry renewed. Is there going to be anyone not in California watching? I wouldn't blame the rest of the country for sitting this one out. Two bad teams, one bad game. With the way SF played against the Cardinals I'm giving this win to Oakland. OAK 21-12
Marcus - The last battle of the bay between the Niners & Raiders. The Raiders held their own for awhile against Indy last week and like them to beat the Santa Clara Niners at Levi Stadium on Thursday. OAK 23-14
Bears (4-3) vs Bill (2-6)
Tommy - Truisky may not put up his best numbers against this Bills defense that seems to play better while at home, but with Anderson looking dinged up walking off at the end of Monday Night Football, that leaves the Bills with just peterman. Against the Bears defense I am sure Anderson or peterman will make a few key mistakes that lead to this being a good old blowout. CHI 20-6
Lauren - That Buffalo defense seems to like playing at home. They held Brady and the Patriots without a touchdown until the fourth quarter. Then of course, Brady was Brady and dominated. Chicago looked really good last week too. I think Trubisky will lead the Bears over the Bills. CHI 27-21
Marcus - With Peterman behind center, da Bears defense along with the return of Khalil Mack are licking their chops for this Sunday's game. CHI 21-3
Chiefs (7-1) vs Browns (2-5)
Tommy - Well 3-36-1 isn't much to be proud of, we will see if Jackson being gone benefits the Browns. I really doubt it does in Week 9. Mayfield took way to many hits against the Steelers, as the Chiefs D-line should have fun putting pressure on him. Mayfield will take to many hits and throw to many balls away in order to keep up with Mahomes and his offense. KC 31-20
Lauren - Looks like Hue Jackson's luck finally ran out. But firing him only fuels the circus antics in Cleveland. meanwhile KC is looking like the whole package with their defense getting five sacks of Keenum last week. Chiefs take it easily. KC 34-14
Marcus - Chiefs!!! KC keeps looking better and better and with all the turmoil Cleveland is having, especially losing two coaches this week, yeah I will take the Chiefs! KC 37-13
Jets (3-5) vs Dolphins (4-4)
Tommy - The Jets do not have the weapons they need on the offensive side to overcome the Dolphins. Miami has shown they handle pressure well and will be able to overcome New York as they complete the clutch third down plays that Darnold and the Jets can't. MIA 23-17
Lauren - The Jets struggled against that great Bears defense as did Miami against the Great Houston D. Both of these teams have looked a lot better this year than I expected them to. However, if Brock Osweiler is starting again, I am giving the win to the Jets. NYJ 24-17
Marcus - Lets take a look at the numbers, the Dolphins are 3-1-1 against the spread vs the jets. And Miami is 5-2 straight up in their last 7 games against their division foe. MIA 24-17
Lions (3-4) vs Vikings (4-3-1)
Tommy - The Vikings are going from facing the Saints top run defense to one of the worst. Minnesota will not need to rely heavily on the pass game, but still have their fun with it finding Diggs and Thielen for big yards. Stafford will put up a fight, but he will miss Tate for the quick getting down the field plays. MIN 30-23
Lauren - Minnesota is tough for me to figure out. Their defense is better than what they looked like on Sunday night. Their offense is nowhere near as bad as they looked against Buffalo. But I just don't know which Viking team will show up. Detroit can be the same way. They should have been able to outscore Seattle. I am giving Minnesota the win here. MIN 23-13
Marcus - The Vikings have shown that they are not the same team that played in the NFC Championship game. The Lions are 6-1 straight up in their last 7 games against division foes, I'm going to Detroit. DET 30-27
Falcons (3-4) vs Redskins (5-2)
Tommy - The difference in this game is offensive lines. The pressure will get to Ryan and he will have a hard time finding his targets against Norman and now Clinton-Dix in the Washington secondary. Smith will have more time and much more open targets. WSH 27-24
Lauren - Atlanta is coming the bye against a Washington defense that looks really good. Adrian Peterson has been reborn beside Alex Smith. But Matt Ryan and that pass game is dangerous. Even dinged-up I think the Falcons can win this one. ATL 27-24
Marcus - The Redskins are 6-1 ATS and SU in their last 7 home games. I am taking the Skins and I like for Ha Ha Clinton-Dix to have a big game!! WSH 31-28
Buccaneers (3-4) vs Panthers (5-2)
Tommy - Fitzpatrick looked good last week, but the Bucs rely far to much on the long ball deep pass to be successful. Newton and McCaffrey will be able to put together more long drives to get down field, while the Bucs go three and out more often. CAR 34-24
Lauren - Is the FitzMagic back? It sure looked that way last week against Cincy. Fitzgerald will have to fight hard against a good Carolina defense. And the Tampa defense is going to have to find a way to silence McCaffrey. Good luck Bucs. CAR 27-21
Marcus - The Panthers play really well at home and I like for my dude McCaffrey to have another big game against the lowly Bucs. CAR 23-20
Steelers (4-2-1) vs Ravens (4-4)
Tommy - So the Ravens won in their first meeting. But since then, both teams have gone in different directions. The Steelers have taken off, while Baltimore has become really pass happy and not as productive offensively. Though he has a busted finger, Big Ben with find Brown and his other weapons to out score Flacco and take home a close win. PIT 29-27
Lauren - LeVeon Bell doesn't even need to come back. James Connor can handle this. And if he does as well this week, then the Steelers have an easy win since it seems Baltimore's run defense can't stop a good back. PIT 28-17
Marcus - This is a classic battle in the AFC North division against two bruiser teams. But the Steelers are 8-0-1 straight up on the road in their last 9 games. PIT 33-20
Texans (5-3) vs Broncos (3-5)
Tommy - You have two amazing defensive lines in this game. But only one QB that is really mobile. Though Watson has taken some dings, I think he will be the difference in this game as he escapes Von Miller more often than Keenum escapes Watt and Clowney. This will be a good game and being clutch in the red zone will be a big factor, we will see if Thomas makes a big difference switching sides. HOU 20-17
Lauren - Denver did not look good against the KC pass-rush. Meaning they should look equally bad against the Texans pass-rush. The Broncos have a good defense too though. Both Keenum and Watson could take a beating at this one. I think Houston wins. HOU 24-13
Marcus - My dudes from Stanford on the Houston defense played a great game last week and I like for them to continue their stellar play this week agains the Broncos. HOU 31-21
Chargers (5-2) vs Seahawks (4-3)
Tommy - Seattle impressed me last week, but the Chargers have been a force and just had a week of rest. It will be tough against the 12th man, but I believe Rivers and his strong defense will be enough to overcome the Seahawks. LAC 31-28
Lauren - Chargers are coming off the bye and the Seahawks are coming off a big win against Detroit. Both of these defenses can be tough. Both of these offenses can be explosive. Can Phillip Rivers handle the twelfth man? I doubt it. SEA 27-20
Marcus - Are the Chargers for real this season? This is a good road challenge to test them on their hot start. But I feel that the Chargers will beat the spread this week against the Seahawks. LAC 24-20
Rams (8-0) vs Saints (6-1)
Tommy - I stood in the Coliseum and saw the Packers shut down Gurley in his run game. Now the Rams face the number one rush defense in the NFL. Though it is tough to say, I think the Rams get their first loss of the year. Brees will be able to pull of more clutch plays through the air than Goff and Kamara will be able to break through the linebackers more than Gurley can. It will be close, but since it is New Orleans I have to take the Saints. NO 34-31
Lauren - This should be a really good game. Drew Brees and the Saints offense against Aaron Donald and the Rams stout defense. Todd Gurley versus Alvin Kamara. Give me the Saints at home. NO 31-27
Marcus - Is this the first game of the season that the Rams lose? Yes, I have a feeling that it is. The Saints play really well at home and have a good run defense and will take the win! NO 34-28
Packers (3-3-1) vs Patriots (6-2)
Tommy - This will probably be the last meeting between these two big name QBs, unless they see each other in the Super Bowl. Brady has home field advantage, more experienced guys to throw the ball to, and a much better coach. That plus the recent loss of depth to the Packers secondary should be enough for Brady to win this one. NE 37-31
Lauren - The game that has been the talk of football for over a week. Elite QB versus elite QB. Green Bay has a slightly better defense, but New England has more reliable receivers. I think the difference makers will be Graham and Gronk. Which means I think the Patriots have the advantage. NE 34-30
Marcus - The battle of two future Hall of Fame QB's! Rodgers vs Brady on Sunday Night! Rodgers beat Brady the first time and I feel that behind's GB's defense and some stellar play from Rodgers, he will be 2-0 against Brady. GB 30-28
Titans (3-4) vs Cowboys (3-4)
Tommy - Lets see how much a difference Cooper makes for the Cowboys. Will he arrive and blow things out of the water in a positive way like many players have? Or will he disappoint his new fanbase like he was doing for the Raiders fans? I think this game will be closer than most expect, but the Cowboys will come out on top with the pressure they are getting watching the Redskins continue to win and the Eagles add a piece to their offense. And I just do not trust the Titans coaching strategy. DAL 23-17
Lauren - Mariota goes to Jerryworld. Both of these teams will be well rested coming of their byes. Dak and Zeke need to make some noise or kiss their season goodbye. The same could be said for the Titans in that competitive division. I think the Boys pull off the win. DAL 17-13
Marcus - I like the Cowboys to win Monday night against the Titans. The recent acquisition of Amari Cooper will alleviate some of the pressure that is currently on Elliot and Dak. DAL 24-14
Season Standings:
Lauren 74-45
Marcus 74-45
Tommy 73-46
Joe 66-39
